Solutions stay positive

Solutions stay positive

Solutions are staying positive and are definitely within the 43% of businessness that have a positive outlook on the future, we appear to be in the minority though......

Fewer than half of North East businesses say they are positive about the future of their region, according to a survey.

The Barclays' Business in 2021 report found that 43 per cent were positive about the future of their region over the next decade.

Two-thirds of North East businesses said the UK's real GDP per capita will experience an increase over the next ten years while an increase in foreign ownership is also expected.

It follows research involving 660 business leaders who were surveyed nationally on what they expect to face over the next ten years.

Brian Thorpe, Barclays Corporate head of the North East, said: "It is clear that the majority of North East businesses believe in the fundamental strength of the UK as a place to do business, and this underlines the temporary nature of the challenges we are currently experiencing.

"It is also telling to see that North East businesses are generally less positive about their region than the UK as a whole, showing the importance of regional development and a need for an increase in confidence going forward."
